Sophie Brasselet awarded CNRS Silver Medal

October 2016

The silver medal distinguishes a researcher for the originality, quality and importance of its work, recognized nationally and internationally.

Sophie Brasselet, trained as an optics physicist, is interested in the way optics can read-out matter properties at the nanoscale.

She brought a remarkable contribution, at the international level, in the field of bio-imaging and nanosciences, by exploiting the properties of light polarization. She provided joint conceptual and experimental developments to achieve a novel tool in optical microscopy which permits to image, at the molecular scale, bio-molecular orientational organization in complex media, using fluorescence and nonlinear optics.

Marie Didier receives two awards

October 2015

For an outstanding flash presentation of her thesis, "Temporally and spatially resolved label-free Second Harmonic Generation imaging of living cells" (which garnered the most applause from the audience), Marie Didier received the "Best Presentation Award" at EPFL Photonics Day on November 6, 2015.

In October 2015, she was honored with the "Best Poster Award" for her poster on "High throughput Second Harmonic Microscope for label free neuroimaging" at IBI Day (Interfaculty Institute of Bioengineering) at EPFL.
